I popped out to Franschoek yesterday to meet with the owners of Ebony and chat about the upcoming Franschoek Literary Festival from the 11th to 14th May. Excitingly I am going to be creating 12 works for them as well as a massive hanging mobile which I am most excited about.
Below is a rather dodgy photo of the 3 works they currently have - their walls are a dark charcoal which really sets them off. Very pleased indeed!

Flotsam - worn by the sea (De Hoop)
I gathered all these bits of plastic on the beach in De Hoop Nature Reserve. Each piece is completely unique as no two bits of plastic I find are the same.

Plant books - made from old Encyclopedia's
The books are hollowed out and then I used a 2 litre milk bottle cut to size to put the plant in.
Simple but nice I think
Not a new idea - it was big in the 70's :-)
The books are all from CAFDA and yes, they know this is what I was doing with them
Phone books and magazines can work for this too
